What's the difference between Sativa and Indica?

Sativa vs. Indica

Sativa vs. Indica

Cannabis is an effective treatment option for a variety of medical conditions that qualify for treatment with marijuana in South Carolina. However, not all strains are created equally, and it is important to note how the different strains can produce different results in the body.

Understanding different strains is important in understanding how cannabis works throughout the body to alleviate pain and other symptoms, because you want to be able to develop a treatment plan that works for you.

Understanding Different Marijuana Strains

At the most basic level, the different types of cannabis plants are indica and sativa. You may want to try different strains to see which produces the desired results for you. Every patient is different, and the variety in cannabis options is ideal for patients with different conditions and symptoms.

Indica

Indica plants are produced with more CBD and less THC. Indica strains are most commonly used for increased mental relaxation, muscle relaxation, decreased nausea, decreased acute pains, increased appetite and increase of dopamine levels. Indica strains are also used often to help treat insomnia.

Sativa

Sativa plants are produced with greater amounts of THC and less CBD, so sativa medicinal strains are best for daytime use. Some common uses are for anti-anxiety, anti-depression, treatment with chronic pain, increased focus and creativity, and increased serotonin level.

Making the Choice

When it comes to choosing between sativa and indica, it is ultimately your preference.
